Alpaca blankets are unmatched for providing a cozy warmth on a chill evening. There is simply no comparison to other natural or synthetic fibers. This is a very nice, useful product, a new addition to our stock. Discover the advantages and elegance of alpaca.

Alpaca is considered one of the worlds few luxury fibers due to its unique properties of softness, luster, lightness, durability, & warmth. No other animal fiber combines ALL of these properties.

Alpaca is also considered a specialty fiber as less alpaca fiber is produced each year than cashmere, angora rabbit, or mohair.

    Softer than I thought!

The blanket came in pretty nice packing and included some care instructions. I tend to sleep with many blankets and putting this one on top made a noticeable difference in warmth and comfort. Really tied the bed together nicely and helped keep me warm. If camping, the blanket by itself won't keep you warm below 50F. I would recommend pairing it with a bag or another blanket. Warm, tough, much softer than normal wool. Great buy if you've got the money to spare! I think I'll buy a larger one since it's nice to bundle up near a fire. I'll have to wait though since the price is hard to justify for any blanket regardless of the quality. Still good value so hopefully it lasts me many years.

    Soft, warm, durable

Great blanket. Stitching on the edges seems high quality. It's incredibly soft and warm. The carrying bag that came with it is durable and a nice touch. I do wish the pattern were a little more interesting / prominent (it's just one band on either end), but that's the only thing I'd change.

I now own 5 of these alpaca blankets. We live in the mountains where nights are cold, even in the summer. These are splendid blankets, so soft and warm. I would highly recommend.

    Alpaca blend blanket

This is a very nice blanket. Warm and soft to the touch, not at all scratchy against the skin. It does shed a lot though, I’ll have to keep a light bedspread over it to try and keep the shedding wool under control.

    Lifesaver

I "camp in". Camping in means saving money by running the heat low during the winter. I have developed a whole system for sleeping in a cold house.

The key ingredient in this system are good blankets. Sheepskin, down, electric, etc. Along with that, things like innovative Aerogel insulation is a viable component of a good blanket system.

I decided, however, to make an alpaca blanket the main blanket, and to buy that blanket from this company.

    (1) The primacy of alpaca
After years of research, I've concluded Alpaca is the best overall material for clothing to keep warm with, wool, cashmere, down, fur, Aerogel, silk, leather, etc. following after.

    (2) The integrity of this company
It is known there is some fraud in the alpaca industry. A label claim of alpaca alone doesn't necessarily make something alpaca. I bought a sweater from this company and there is little doubt that the sweater is what it claimed to be: 100% alpaca.

    (3) Based on those two reasons, I bought the king size blanket. I believe it is what they say it is: a good balance of alpaca and merino.

I sleep tested the blanket for the first time last night, as we've gotten a rare mid-Fall cold spell here in the DC area.

In the morning, using an infrared thermometer, I measured the temperature in the room and under the blanket. The room was about 55 degrees Fahrenheit; under the blanket, about 70 degrees. Now, that was just a preliminary "rough draft" test.

But it impressed me: the only other insulation besides the blanket was a sleeping bag not rated for cold weather.

I add my recommendation to that of the others here.
