I "camp in". Camping in means saving money by running the heat low during the winter. I have developed a whole system for sleeping in a cold house. The key ingredient in this system are good blankets. Sheepskin, down, electric, etc. Along with that, things like innovative Aerogel insulation is a viable component of a good blanket system. I decided, however, to make an alpaca blanket the main blanket, and to buy that blanket from this company. (1) The primacy of alpaca After years of research, I've concluded Alpaca is the best overall material for clothing to keep warm with, wool, cashmere, down, fur, Aerogel, silk, leather, etc. following after. (2) The integrity of this company It is known there is some fraud in the alpaca industry. A label claim of alpaca alone doesn't necessarily make something alpaca. I bought a sweater from this company and there is little doubt that the sweater is what it claimed to be: 100% alpaca. (3) Based on those two reasons, I bought the king size blanket. I believe it is what they say it is: a good balance of alpaca and merino. I sleep tested the blanket for the first time last night, as we've gotten a rare mid-Fall cold spell here in the DC area. In the morning, using an infrared thermometer, I measured the temperature in the room and under the blanket. The room was about 55 degrees Fahrenheit; under the blanket, about 70 degrees. Now, that was just a preliminary "rough draft" test. But it impressed me: the only other insulation besides the blanket was a sleeping bag not rated for cold weather. I add my recommendation to that of the others here.
We are very excited to offer you these brand new alpaca blankets from Incatops, a company that has demonstrated its high professional capability in achieving the demanding standards required by the international textile industry. These are all exclusive, custom-made blankets, items to be treasured for years to come.
You will be absolutely happy and satisfied if you purchase one of these superb blankets.
Beautifully made, this gorgeous alpaca blanket is thick, soft and warm. Perfect for a king or queen size bed.
It has a very nice, special color. This is a heavy blanket, not like the throw type.
Alpaca blankets are unmatched for providing a cozy warmth on a chill evening. There is simply no comparison to other natural or synthetic fibers. This is a very nice, useful product, a new addition to our stock. Discover the advantages and elegance of alpaca.
Alpaca is considered one of the worlds few luxury fibers due to its unique properties of softness, luster, lightness, durability, & warmth. No other animal fiber combines ALL of these properties.
Alpaca is also considered a specialty fiber as less alpaca fiber is produced each year than cashmere, angora rabbit, or mohair.
King: 110" x 92"
Material: Alpaca Wool
This blanket is massive and beautiful! We have only just received it, but we are in love! It is much bigger than most king sized blankets and oh so soft! We are in love with it already.
We LOVE this blanket. It's huge, super warm, and so so natural, grounding, and beautiful feeling.
Keep me warm, attractive blanket with beautiful color
This blanket is all the good things I heard about Alpaca. Warm, comfortable and it looks nice too.
These are wonderful blankets. Very, very warm and beautiful. So happy that I bought these.
I have tried a number of blankets in the past such as down and wool, and have always sweated during my night sleep. With the Alpaca-wool blank it appears to regulate itself to my body temperture; my body has not been sweating durning my night sleep. Nice material.
I ordered the king size blanket for my waterbed because I could not find any measurements for the sizes on your website. (waterbeds aren't conventional sizes). This king blanket is much bigger than usual (I'm not complaining!) and easily can be used as a spread. I love it's very soft nap and I is extremely warm without weight.
I bought two blankets, one for my daughter and one for me. They shed a little the first time or two using them. "A little scratchy but soft soft daddy" is my daughter comment. Keeps me snug and warm on a cold winter night. I'd say medium thick and nice quality edge stitching. I'm glad I bought them as the blankets appear they will last. Fast Shipping too.
It's hard ordering some items online without being able to feel them but, I was glad I did. These blankets are very warm (I live north of Boston). They are also as soft as described and just feel like a quality blanket. I believe I will get many years of use from them.
Have 4 beds in our home, and all 4 now have alpaca wool blankets on them. We sometimes share space ala "B&B", and guests love 'em too. A great value as well, via this on-line merchant.
As I was experimenting with different sleeping systems, trying to downsize everything, I stumbled upon wool blankets and their benefits when it comes to multi-usable gear. So I needed to find me a blanket that was warm enough, bulletproof and still comfortable to sleep in. Well.. This blanket will do the trick for me! The alpaca wool feels very soft and comfortable, even on bare skin! It's very warm for its weight and because of the great size of this blanket, I don't need a backpack anymore, I just use my blanket for that too. Thank you for this great product!
so much softer than the wool blanket I was using. can't say it's much warmer though. Probably about the same , but man it is so soft! My wife said it's not as soft as she thought it would be but she likes those furry fleece blankets that ball up if you accidentally dry them on normal so we were coming from two different spectrum's. We have a queen bed but got a king size blanket since my wife likes to wrap the blankets around her and with the King I still have a blanket on me when I wake up in the morning.
